What has made hugging so popular lately. Hugging, I believe is acceptable in certain situations; when seeing someone you have not seen in a very long time, periods of grief, extreme happiness, or other high emotional periods. Who has deemed it appropriate that when ever you see anyone no matter how short the period of time in between your last visit that you hug. Eventually we will go from I haven't seen you all day-give me a hug to I haven't seen you in 5 minutes-Lets hug it out bitch! A school in some shit town somewhere banned hugging in their schools because kids would form hugging lines and they would subsequently be late for class. Bravo to the school. What happened to a firm handshake or a pat on the back or even a friendly wave.
What do we get out of hugging anyway? Close physical contact with one to which we want to know that they care? Maybe, for guys maybe they get to feel girls breasts close to theirs, at least I understand that reasoning, but for girls what is the basis (excluding lesbians). What I would consider an overtly girly action in the past has become commonplace no matter the gender. I'm putting my foot down. The only people to get hugs out of me are men (no relation) bc at least they get something out of it. Girls sorry no dice you get a friendly pat on the shoulder.
